McKenzie Cup Award

Since 1964, the Federation of Fly Fishers [FFF] in Livingston, Monatna,  has been an organized voice for fly fishers. FFF represents all aspects of fly fishing from the art of casting instruction and fly tying, to the protection of our fisheries.The Federation of Fly Fishers and its Councils are the only organized advocate for fly fishers on an national and regional level.

The Federation of Fly Fishers has a membership comprised of over 300 fly fishing clubs. Each year, the Federation’s awards committee receives nominations for the “McKenzie Cup”…an award, given annually to that FFF Club which has made the most outstanding contribution on behalf of the Federation.

At their July 11th National Conclave in Spokane Washington, the Federation of Fly Fishers named the Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers, Inc. as the recipient of the McKenzie Cup Award for 2012.

This award is presented to that club that best fulfills the objective of the Federation:

1. Advance the art, science and sport of flyfishing as a way of fishing most consistent with the preservation and use of game fish resources;
2. Be a political voice for organized fly fishing;
3. Promote conservation of recreational resources;
4. Facilitate and improve the knowledge of fly fishing;
5. Elevate the standard of integrity, honor, and courtesy of anglers:
6. Cherish the spirit of fellowship among anglers everywhere;
7. Establish and maintain liaison with other organizations of anglers and conservationists and government agencies concerned with the sport of angling; and
8. Keep its members informed of developments of interest to the membership.

The Shasta Trinity Fly Fishers [www.shastatrinityflyfishers.org] is a 245 member organization that has been operating in Redding for over 20 years.
