Shasta Mayflies Fly Fishing Group

The Shasta Mayflies is the women-oriented subgroup of the Shasta-Trinity Fly Fishers (STFF). Our goal is to offer a comfortable environment in which women can explore fly fishing as a sport through hands-on practice and fellowship.

Our members' skill levels range from women who have never fished to those with a lot of river miles behind them.

We are fortunate to live - and fish - in northern California, a very beautiful and popular fly fishing destination.

As a subgroup of STFF, we actively participate in everything the club has to offer including monthly programs, outings, classes, community service and conservation.

In addition, we offer women-oriented activities. Below is an introduction to what being a Mayfly is all about.

Mayflies Social

The Mayflies gather periodically to socialize, usually around a meal!

We eat, we talk, we share fishing stories, and we learn. Sometimes a Mayfly will share a fly fishing tip or technique. It’s a great way for us to build friendships and to learn a little more about the art of fly fishing!

We hope you will join us! For more info on our next social gathering, send us an email.

Outings

The Mayflies organize women-oriented fishing outings to lakes and streams within driving distance of Redding. These outings give us the opportunity to learn about new places to fish and how to fish them.

Outings are a great way to improve our fly fishing skills through the friendly exchange of tips and techniques. Best of all, we have fun!

Our outings are included on the master schedule on the STFF website. Click here for all the details.

Other Events

STFF host a multitude of events including:

  • Fly Tying Classes
  • Casting Classes
  • Conservation Activities
  • Semi-monthly Fellowship Breakfasts

and more, all listed on the main STFF website.

Photo Album, Recipies and Fish Reports

One of the most popular pages on our website is our Photo Album! Members, send us your fish shot with all the pertinent info and we’ll do our best to get it online.

Our Recipes page developed from an article published by Redding’s Record Searchlight newspaper. If you have a fish recipe you would like to share, send us the details!

Click on Fish Reports and Other Useful Links for weather reports, knot info, other clubs, DF&G, and – of course – published fish reports!
