Mayflies Photo Album

We hope you enjoy our photo album showing what we've been up to.

Trinity River, CA

Sandy J. says it's too cold to go fishing. She doesn't look so cold!

Trinity River, Douglas City, CA

A nice reward for our Trinity outing fishmistress, Judith B.

Upper Sacramento River, Dunsmuir, CA

A beautiful day on the Upper Sac.

Rock Creek Lake, Manton, CA

Linda S.'s first fish from a float tube. It doesn't get any better than this!

Ann H.'s first catch at Rock Creek Lake - a fiesty brown.

Too big for the net? But skillfully brought in by Cheryl B.

Trinity River - Fly Fishing Only Section, Lewiston, CA

Some new members and some old (I didn't mean it like that!) sharing a great spring day on the Trinity.

The fish weren't necessarily large, but they were willing.
New member Laura R. shows off her first fish ... ever!
Let's hope they all grow up to be like Nikki's catch.

Trinity River, CA

Nikki landed this 33-inch, 12-pound chromer the week after our Trinity outing. Where'd she learn how to fish like that?!

Trinity River, Douglas City, CA

The Mayflies went back to the Trinity for some true winter steelhead fishing in January. It was one of the most successful Trinity outings yet with six fish landed - most while wading. Way to go Mayflies!

Jan's first steelhead and it was a beaut! She says she's hooked!

Didi had a good day out with Jim Andras.

Sandy had a lot of help to land her steelhead. And it's a good thing ...

because it was HUGE! (-:

Mayflies Fish the World

Cheryl & Judith in Cabo, Walt in Bolivia, and Sandy B. right in our own backyard (the lower Sac.)!

Trinity River, Douglas City, CA

The Shasta Mayflies and Golden West Women's Flyfishers teamed up for a joint steelhead outing this fall. Wendy & Joan had a great day floating with guide Brad of Andras Outfitters.

And Judith had a happy day out with friend and guide Jim Andras.

Upper Sacramento River, Dunsmuir, CA

Didi landed this beauty on our annual trek to the upper Sac.

Return of the Salmon Festival, Anderson, CA

Mayflies were able to provide some hands-on fly casting
instruction to many young visitors at Coleman Hatchery's
Return of the Salmon Festival.

Antelope Creek Ranch, near Tennant, CA

Sometimes it's what you know AND who you know.
Thanks again to The Fly Shop for inviting a group of us gals to their private ranch up northeast of Weed. We got in a great day of fishing PLUS enjoyed a great barbecue by Mike & Bertha.

(Click here for more info on Antelope Creek Ranch.)

Rock Creek Lake, Manton

Rainbows aplenty at our special fundraiser at Rock Creek Lake this May. Many thanks to The Fly Shop in Redding for making this happen!

Lake Christine

Now that's what I'm talking about!

Lake Christine, Manton

Lake Christine Fish

Oh yeah. The fish.

Trinity River, Lewiston

Trinity River Brown Trout

This 30-inch, 11-lb brown trout was caught a week after
our Trinity outing!

Rogue River, Oregon

The weekend outing to the Rouge River near Shady Cove, Oregon is always filled with fish & fun! Guide Jim Andras - Andras Outfitters - always puts us on the fish!

Rainbows, steelies and cutthroat trout were caught.

Upper Sacramento River

The weather and the water were both beautiful for our trip to the Upper Sac in Dunsmuir. We saw lots of October caddis naturals, but the fish didn't seem to be keying in on them.

Happy Mayflies after a fun and productive day of fishing.

Rock Creek Lake, Manton

This Mayfly had the "hot fly" - a grasshopper - that helped her land several nice trout. In true Mayfly fashion, she shared her extra hoppers with other club members.

While fishing may have been a little tougher than in years past, nearly everyone caught fish.

Manzanita Lake, Lassen Park

Rainbows and browns were caught by over half of the Mayflies, which was better than most of the many other fishers on the lake. We shared the lake with our friends from the Shasta-Trinity Fly Fishers and two Bay Area clubs.

Trinity River - Fly Only Section, Lewiston

Mayflies on the water! We fished some great runs and caught lots and lots of fish. The weather was fabulous and the fish were willing. Some Mayflies stopped counting at 50!

Lake Christine, Manton

The lake was perfect. We didn't have a lot of rises and had to work for our fish.

Even so, almost everyone caught fish including this beauty! It was a great day with a yummy pot luck and a birthday celebration.

Lower Sacramento River Outing

The first fishing outing of the year was for wild rainbows on the
Lower Sacramento River in Redding.

Mayflies Love to Fish!

Mayflies enjoy club outings, but have been known to fish at other times as well. Here, club members show off some great Trinity steelhead and ... a rooster fish? That's not from around here!

Trinity River Outing, Lewiston

More than 20 Mayflies and friends traveled up to Lewiston in search of the mighty steelhead. Hard work paid off for this Mayfly - a very impressive hatchery buck!

Several nice brown trout were also landed.

Rogue River Outing, Oregon

Mayflies fish for steelhead with a guide on the upper Rogue River near Shady Cove, Oregon.

Upper Sacramento River

The fall colors were spectacular on our trip to the Upper Sac near Dunsmuir. And the fishing was pretty hot, too. If you look closely, you can see the bent rod!

Private Water Fundraiser

Our Private Water club fundraiser was a lot of fun again this year. Big trout (rainbows and browns), good weather and great fellowship!

Manzanita Lake, Lassen Park

Manzanita Lake in Lassen Park was a welcome refuge from all the smoke from the fires raging in the north state.

Mayflies enjoying an afternoon meal. The fishing was good and the pot-luck was great, as usual!
